A comprehensive guide to all Stowaway features.

Items can include the following information:

  1. Navigate to the item detail page
  2. Click Edit
  3. Modify any fields
  4. Click Save

Warning: Permanent Action Deleting an item is permanent and cannot be undone.

  1. Navigate to the item detail page
  2. Click Delete
  3. Confirm the deletion

Each category has a color that appears as a badge on items:

  • Helps visually identify item types at a glance
  • Colors are customizable
  • Choose from a preset palette or enter custom hex colors
  • Create - Add new categories with name and color
  • Edit - Change category name or color
  • Delete - Remove category (items will be uncategorized)

Locations help you find items physically:

  • Create hierarchical locations (e.g., “Garage > Shelf A”)
  • Add descriptions for additional context
  • View all items in a location

Each item can have a QR code generated:

  1. Open item detail page
  2. Click QR Code button
  3. View, download, or print the QR code
  • Print and attach to physical items or shelves
  • Scan with any QR code reader
  • Links directly to the item detail page

Use your device’s camera to scan barcodes:

  1. Click Scan button on the items page
  2. Allow camera access
  3. Point camera at barcode
  4. System automatically detects and searches
  • UPC-A
  • UPC-E
  • EAN-8
  • EAN-13
  • Code 39
  • Code 128
  • QR Code

Items can have multiple images:

  1. Edit an item
  2. Click Add Image or drag & drop
  3. Images are uploaded automatically
  • JPEG (.jpg, .jpeg)
  • PNG (.png)
  • GIF (.gif)
  • WebP (.webp)

Default maximum: 5MB per image (configurable)


  1. Set Min Quantity on an item
  2. When quantity drops to or below this value, it appears in alerts
  • Dashboard shows low stock items count
  • Click to see all low stock items
  • Filter items list by low stock status

Export your inventory for backup or analysis:

Restore from a previous export:

  1. Go to Settings
  2. Click Import
  3. Select your JSON or CSV file
  4. Review import summary
  5. Confirm import

Search across all item fields:

Narrow down results:

  • Date modified
